I think you’ll agree with me when I say that everyone needs a big screen in their life.
When you have access to a big screen, it lets you watch movies as though you’re in the cinema or broadcast presentations that are easy for everyone in the room to see. The unfortunate thing is that big screens can be very expensive and come with limitations.
Well, this is why your best option is to get a projector.
Projectors let you broadcast things on flat surfaces in massive dimensions, creating a cinema experience. It can be hard to find a great projector as many of them cost a lot of money. But, after carefully going through all the projectors on the market, I’ve managed to come up with a list of the top five projectors for under $300.
Check out the full reviews of each model on this list in the article below:

1. Epson VS250 SVGA HDMI 3LCD Projector - Great For Educational & Business Use
There are many reasons you might need access to a projector, one of those is that you need to give a presentation. The Epson VS250 is excellent for this exact purpose. It comes with lots of little features that make it the best in class for educational and business use.
You can connect most HDMI devices to this projector with ease, and it has fantastic color brightness and image quality for a crisp presentation. It also boasts advanced visual features like SVGA resolution, which is perfect for displaying graphics and charts.
This projector also has the benefit of being incredibly easy to set up and use. This means you won’t waste time fussing over a projector when you need to give an important presentation and are strapped for time. Epson has also made it very easy for you to adjust the color and intensity of the projected image, ensuring you always have presentations that are in focus. Furthermore, it’s designed to work well in bright rooms, which is yet another reason it’s great for educational and business use. Most classrooms or offices are well-lit, so you need a projector that still works in this lighting.
Having said all this, there’s a pretty big elephant in the room; the price tag. At under $300 it’s still an affordable projector, but it’s the most expensive product on this list. What’s more, many people feel the image quality isn’t that great for watching films or streaming TV/games.
Therefore, you’re spending nearly $300 on something that only really works brilliantly for presentations. Not only that, but the sound quality from the projector isn’t great, so you’d need to invest in external speakers too.
2. ViewSonic PA503S 3600 Lumens SVGA HDMI Projector - The Most Versatile Projector For Under $300
This projector from ViewSonic is easily the most versatile option on the list. If you’re looking for an all-around projector that works well in many situations, then this is it. It has SuperColor Technology which provides arguably the best color accuracy on the market for projectors in this price range.
Consequently, this makes it a wonderful option if you want to project movies, TV shows, or games. Not only that, but the SVGA resolution means it’s a great option for business and educational presentations as well. In short; this projector can do it all.
Another great feature this projector boasts is phenomenal lamp life. There’s an Eco-Mode in this model that lets the internal projector lamp shine for up to 10,000 hours. This means you’ll never have any problems when watching a long movie! Along with this, it offers big screen projection that can turn a wall into a cinema screen in no time.
You can project images that are 120 inches in size, which is way bigger than any TV you can buy for the same price. Speaking of the price, at just Price not available its wonderful value for money considering all the things this projector can do. As if all this wasn’t good enough already, it can connect to any HDMI device, and even supports 3D Blu-rays as well!
There’s almost too much to love about this projector as it offers a great movie watching experience while also being adept at projecting clear business presentations. If I had to be critical of this product, then the worst thing about it is the noise the cooling fan makes. It can be pretty noisy and hard to forget about once you start noticing it.
Along with this, there have also been issues with the speakers not working after a few months, which isn’t ideal. Lastly, while it can take 1080p image signals, the actual projections aren’t in full 1080p.
3. RIF6 CUBE Mobile Pico Projector - Best Portable Option
From the moment you lay eyes on the RIF6 CUBE projector, you notice one key feature; its size. This is one of the tiniest and most compact projectors money can buy, which makes it a fantastic portable option if you need one. It quite literally fits in the palm of your hand, meaning you can carry a projector around with you wherever you go.
The size isn’t the only thing that makes this a great portable projector, it can also boast a very good LED display as well. While the projector may be tiny, it can broadcast an image that's up to 120 inches in size. One of the best things about this product is the variety of connectivity options at your disposal.
While most other projectors only offer HDMI connections, this one has a micro SD card slot, USB flash driver, and more. All this means it can connect to numerous mobile devices along with general media players and cameras. The value of this product is increased when you look at what comes in the box.
Along with the projector, you also get a remote control, connectors for MHL, HMDI and USB, and a bendable tripod. That’s an awful lot of stuff for a projector that comes in at just a smidge over $200! What’s more, the tripod just adds to this being a wonderful portable option.
There is a fairly obvious downside to this projector, and it’s the image quality. While the image it displays is still pretty great, it’s not up to the standard of larger projectors out there. Also, because of how small it is, it has problems projecting things like long movies that have lots of action scenes. This can cause it to overheat and shut down, which isn’t great if you’re in the middle of a long film. To add to this, the speaker isn’t very good at all, which is probably why a lot of people use this as a projector for photos and other still images.
4. Fixeover Video Projector GP100 - Best Budget Option
Fixeover has entered the game with a wonderful video projector that comes in at a phenomenal price. At around $66.73, it’s easily the cheapest product on this list - but you wouldn’t be able to tell. The quality of the images it projects is amazing, it pumps out visuals that are much brighter than typical LED projectors. For this reason, it’s a great choice for home entertainment like movies, sports, TV shows, and even gaming.
Things are made even better when you have a look at the size of the projected images. If you have a small wall in your bedroom or living area, then it can project a minimum of 40 inches onto it. But, if you have a much larger bit of space, then you can project a whopping 200 inches if you wish! In conjunction with all this good stuff it also offers lots of connectivity options that let you hook different devices up at the same time.
This means you can connect external speakers and your laptop to the projector at once. Furthermore, it has USB connections that mean you can plug in a Google Chromecast or Amazon Firestick to stream entertainment through the projector.
What’s bad about this projector? Well, for such a great price it’s hard to be too critical of it as it does represent great value for money. However, there’s no denying that - although the image is nice and crisp - there are issues with color correction. It doesn’t have the best color accuracy around, which is probably what holds it back from being crowned the all-around best projector for under $300. Another slight drawback is the 720p native resolution, which basically means it doesn’t project things in full HD 1080p.
5. AEHR Mini Projector - Best For Mobile Devices
The AEHR Mini Projector is another option for people that want a small, portable, projector. However, the key selling point of this device is how well it works with smartphones and tablets. It has easy USB connectivity and works with mobile devices that have various operating systems.
What’s more, it has a USB Same Screen feature that lets you hook up your phone and instantly project what’s on the screen. This makes it great if you have holiday photos that you want to display on a big screen, or if you want to stream a movie from your Netflix app. There’s also WiFi connectivity as well, which lets you do the same screen thing but without any cables.
This projector also comes with a tripod that makes it very easy for you to set it up wherever you are. Again, this makes it a very good portable option, and the size of the projector backs this up as it’s only about as big as an iPhone. The quality of the projected images is fairly good for such a small projector, and it even has instant Keystone Correction built in as well.
There are a few negative points of this projector, and the main one is that the operating system runs a very old version of Android. This means it can lag a bit and just not be as responsive as you’d like it to be. Not only that, but the focus adjustment feature isn’t automatic, so you have to manually do this every time you project something. Again, this isn’t a dealbreaker, but it is a bit of an annoyance.
You have five excellent options to choose from on this list, but it’s vital you make the right decision based on what you’re looking for. We all have different needs, and there’s a projector out there for yours.
If you’re keen to get something to work in an educational or business setting, then you’re best off spending your money on the Epson VS250 as it’s well-built for presentations and static images.
But, if you want something that can do it all and offer versatility, then look no further than the ViewSonic PJD5155 as it combines great color quality with additional features that make it perfect for movies, presentations, and everything in between.
If size is important, and you want something that’s easy to carry around and set up anywhere, then the RIF6 CUBE is ideal for you. However, if you want a portable projector that’s specifically designed for mobile devices, then go for the AEHR Mini Projector instead.
Finally, if the price is your main barrier, then you’ll want the Fixeover Video Projector GP100 It’s great for home movies and sports, and it comes in at a very attractive price.
Weigh up all these different options and then pick a projector that will work best for you!
